Private Breakout Rooms

Separate, private breakout rooms are available for each party to assemble and meet confidentially with their legal representatives, and between joint sessions.

Each breakout room is acoustically isolated, comfortably furnished and equipped with Wi-Fi access.

Separate entry and exit arrangements and two independent waiting areas are available to support the comfort, privacy and amenity of all attendees.

Reception & Waiting Areas

A professional reception and waiting area is available for arriving parties and their representatives. The space is designed to be welcoming and discreet, with seating and access to refreshments and bathroom facilities available.

A further spacious and seperate waiting area is also available behind Reception.

Staggered arrival times and separate waiting areas are supported to maintain confidentiality and minimise contact between parties prior to the commencement of the mediation where desired.

Separate Waiting Spaces

All rooms at Flagstaff Mediation Centre are designed with confidentiality as a priority. Acoustic privacy, discreet access arrangements and two spacious, separate waiting areas ensure that discussions remain private throughout the mediation process.

The Centre is suitable for sensitive matters including personal injury, family law, workplace/employment, commercial, insurance, business/partnership and organisational disputes.

Mediation Rooms — Joint Session Spaces

Flagstaff Mediation Centre features two joint session rooms available for the opening and joint phases of mediation.

The (Flagstaff) Mediation Room 1 (overlooking Flagstaff Gardens) seats 6-8 people at the negotiating table and is well suited to matters involving fewer parties or where a more intimate setting is preferred. It features a wall-mounted LED panel screen and a double-sided mobile whiteboard.

The (La Trobe) Mediation Room 2 (facing La Trobe Street) seats 10-12 people at the negotiating table and is designed to accommodate matters involving multiple parties, legal representatives and support persons. It features a wheel-mounted LED panel screen and a double-sided mobile whiteboard.

An LED projector is available separately for hire.

Both joint session rooms can be reconfigured to include a gallery of several additional seats along the room perimeter, subject to individual booking requirements. Let our team know of your particular requirements and we shall endeavour to accommodate you.

Mediation and breakout spaces are acoustically private, neutrally decorated and professionally furnished to support a calm, constructive environment.

Centre Facilities & Inclusions

The (Flagstaff) Mediation Room 1 features a wheeled lectern, wall-mounted LED screen and a two-sided mobile whiteboard.

The (La Trobe) Mediation Room 2 features a pedestal-mounted mobile LED screen and a two-sided mobile whiteboard to support mediator agenda-setting and option generation.

A MFP printer/copier/scanner is available for low-volume tasks on-site.

Bathroom Facilities

Male and Female bathroom facilities are available within the Centre.

A separate, unisex bathroom facility exists on the building Ground Level, with access available upon request.

Refreshments & Catering

A kitchenette with seating is accessible to Centre visitors, with complimentary filtered water, tea and coffee-making facilities included with all bookings.

External catering can be arranged and is priced separately — please enquire with a minimum of 7 days’ notice to allow for pricing and availability.

Several restaurants, cafes and eateries also surround the Centre, within easy walking distance.

A quick coffee and a walk through Flagstaff Gardens to refresh and recharge is also popular.

Flagstaff Mediation Centre is located at 326 William Street, Melbourne, in the heart of Melbourne's legal precinct, overlooking Flagstaff Gardens and Former Royal Mint. The Centre is a private facility, accessible by appointment only. Inspections prior to booking are available by contacting the Centre, using the Contact Us form.

The Centre also sits opposite the Commonwealth Law Courts and Flagstaff Station, just two minutes' walk (or a single tram stop) to the William Cooper Justice Centre, Magistrates’, County and Supreme Courts of Victoria. The Centre is close to several barristers' chambers and city law practices.

The venue is well suited to barristers, solicitors, mediators, insurers, employers, HR professionals and parties attending mediations, settlement conferences and confidential dispute resolution meetings in the Melbourne CBD.

With a unique outlook over Flagstaff Gardens, the Centre provides a calm, professional atmosphere in which to meet on neutral ground and resolve disputes.

Public Transport

Flagstaff Station is located directly opposite the Centre. Free tram services operate along William Street and La Trobe Street, providing convenient connections across the CBD.

Parking

On-street metered parking is available on and surrounding William and La Trobe Streets. A secure all-day car park is located opposite the Centre at The Mint Car Parking along William St, with other public parking options nearby. The Queen Victoria Market also provides ample parking in close proximity.

Accessibility

The building provides lift access and step-free entry. Accessible facilities are available on-site. Please contact the Centre in advance if any party has specific accessibility requirements and the team will make appropriate arrangements.
